Frequently Asked Questions

Practical questions about CTFA.

Where does CTFA recommend an organization begin?

For the initial organizational relationship, consulting is often the strongest starting point because it allows CTFA to understand the operation, workforce, training environment and desired outcomes before recommending a broader training or implementation solution.

Is CTFA replacing our required foundational adjuster training?

No. CTFA’s customized training is designed to pick up where foundational education ends. For new CA adjusters who have completed required foundational or 160-hour training, CTFA can focus on real-world application, client accounts, procedures, systems, expectations and ongoing development.

Can CTFA train using our actual claims?

Yes, when the client approves the model and appropriate confidentiality, system-access and claim-handling controls are in place. The purpose is to help professionals apply knowledge to the same types of decisions, accounts and workflows they will actually manage.

How does outsourced training reduce the burden on our leaders?

CTFA can provide a dedicated resource for structured onboarding, claim application, office hours, targeted remediation, reinforcement and skill development. Supervisors and mentors remain accountable for leadership and oversight, but they are not left to carry every training task on top of production responsibilities.

Who is Claims Professional Development designed for?

It is designed to create pathways for displaced workers and career-transition professionals whose transferable skills and life experience can translate into workers’ compensation. The goal is to build technical capability while preserving empathy, judgment and awareness of the person behind the claim.

Does Professional Development lead only to an adjuster role?

No. Claims adjusting can provide a strong foundation for a broader career in claims leadership, client service, risk, safety, return-to-work, quality, vendor oversight, training, consulting and other workers’ compensation functions.

Does CTFA replace statutory, licensing or employer designation requirements?

No. Employers, claims organizations and individual professionals remain responsible for meeting all applicable legal, regulatory, licensing, designation, experience and employer-specific requirements. CTFA does not replace those requirements. Instead, CTFA works within them to help organizations strengthen how their claims professionals are developed. This may include designing or enhancing an internal claims training program, supporting applied development after foundational instruction, and collaborating with established industry training providers to create a more complete learning and development pathway.

Can CTFA support remote or multi-state teams?

Yes. Depending on the engagement, consulting and training can be structured for virtual, in-person or blended delivery, including geographically dispersed teams.
